I got dd's German texts last Thurs. or Fri. and decided to start going through them today to do a bit of planning. Ds's texts are easy enough for me to work with without a teacher's guide. I just discovered that dd's texts will be a little harder. *sigh* I've ordered the teacher's guide, but they don't expect it until the middle of September. That's okay, I guess. We'll do what we can without them.
Daisy, what are you using for your German? We are wanting to learn this year but we are beginners and have no idea where to even look for a resource.
ReplyDeleteFor dd, I'm using Team Deutsch, which as been approved for grade 7 6-year German program or grade 10 3-year program.
ReplyDeleteFor ds, I'm using Deutsch Aktuell, which has been approved for the 9-year German program. I found both at LRC.
A friend recently recommended to me a free German course, Deutch - Warum Nicht?, as a good introductory course.
ReplyDeleteThanks, Lisia! That looks like a great supplement to my attempt at reviving and improving *my* German. :) I've just been using this and that from the library. I was hoping to take part in a German book club that takes place monthly at a local library, but I saw just yesterday in the info that it's already full. :( I will use what I can and I love how much of an auditory component the Deutsch-Warum nicht? has. (I'm very auditory! To the point it's been bothering me for sometime that I've forgotten how you told me your name is pronounced. ;) )
ReplyDeleteTeam Deutsch is designed specifically for "youth" which is why I chose it for dd (well, that and I do want to match up to what is going on in schools here so that she can maybe get official credit somewhere down the line). Of course, the drawback is that I have the resources, but the resources do not necessarily make a full course. Deutsch Aktuell is designed for 9yos, I think, so it's a good beginning resource for my son. With both, *I* have to be the instructor, too, because they're not really designed to be self-learning.
leeSEEyah or lihSEEyah :)
ReplyDeleteLOL! Thanks. :)
