Just had to laugh

I was reading something where they mentioned the NEA, which is the National Education Association (for the US) and how they're really against homeschooling. So I decide to look it up and find this article http://www.nea.org/espcolumns/dv040220.html . I laughed too much to be offended. Especially at the part where the author writes about Sam Walton teaching people to do this and that: did Sam have a degree in teaching people to do those things??? I think not. :)

Wow, that's got to be the most ill-informed attack on homeschooling I've ever seen! It doesn't look like he's ever met a homeschooler. So funny that in justifying his position on homeschooling, he belittles parents for thinking they "know enough about every academic subject to home-school their children", yet he knows enough about homeschooling to write this article, having, it appears, looked at one website on the topic! I hope this "experienced pro" doesn't teach the children at his school that scanning one website is the way to get informed on a subject!

The entire article just makes me roll my eyes! I am so glad he isn't 'teaching' my children....

I re-read the article when I wasn't in such a laugh-it-off mood. What an idiot!!!! I wonder how well he'd like to have me mold his children, as he seems to be very eager to mold mine.

He's just one of those guys who's taking it very personally and worried about what his own education means if parents can do it without that type of education. I'm sure he wouldn't be very happy to find out that parents' level of education doesn't in any way predict how well students do on standardized tests!
